A main purpose of this section is to alert readers to works that we are proposing to issue in the near and foreseeable future, and to invite expressions of interest in them! We are a very demand-driven firm, so several enquiries for the same piece will always accelerate its appearance in print. There are always plans afoot for further publications by our “house composers”, both contemporary (including Jeremy Filsell, Sebastian Forbes, Patrick Gowers, Francis Grier, Nicholas Jackson and Barry Rose) and classic (Parry, Stanford, Charles Wood and Karg-Elert).
Jeremy Filsell
We will be bringing out Jeremy’s Windsor Evening Service, a companion setting to the Windsor Te Deum & Jubilate which we already publish.
Francis Grier
We are delighted to announce that Francis Grier has decided to place his recent and forthcoming compositions with us. Several anthems of his are already in print from us, and there are exciting plans ahead. A Missa Spiritus Sancti has been commissioned by St Paul’s Cathedral, and its first performance will be at the 11.30am Eucharist there on Whitsunday (23rd May). It is written for SATB soloists and choir, with accompaniment of Oboe (doubling Cor Anglais), Horn, Harp, ‘Cello, Timpani & Percussion, and will be performed by the Cathedral Choir and members of the City of London Sinfonia. It will be available from us thereafter.
There are also further plans to issue a work commissioned by King’s College, Cambridge for performance next year, and also his magnum opus The Passion of Jesus of Nazareth. We will also be continuing our programme of issues of shorter church music works of his.
Stanford
We are expecting to have all the performing material for his Symphony no 6 in Eb, op 94 available shortly. Of other large-scale works, we have in preparation the vocal score of the Stabat Mater, op 96.
Other plans include more piano and chamber music reissues.
French Church Music
Our reissues of music by composers such as Vierne and Widor – some of which have brought back into circulation music that has proved impossible to obtain for many years - have proved very popular.
We are planning more issues of Masses and Motets by French composers active between around 1850 and 1930, and are always glad to hear of pieces that customers would like to see available again.
2011
will be the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Walter Alcock and the centenary of Robert Ashfield. We will be anticipating these anniversaries with further reissues of their church and organ music.
